A little bit about G.T Orsman,
The village butcher
We have over 100 years of expertise behind us.
In 1959 Tom’s son in law, Norman Binmore joined him and learned the butchery trade and on Tom’s retirement in 1963 Norman bought the business. As the business grew it was decided in 1970 to relocate to 9 Fore Street Shaldon, Norman was then joined by Allan Mitchell who took over the day to day running of the butchery which enabled Norman to expand on the very successful pie production.
The butchery business continued to grow needing more space and relocated to the present day shop; by 1978 the business had grown considerably which is when the present day owner, Phil Beatty, joined the company. Phil worked in Shaldon for many years before deciding to gain further experience working for a larger company, where upon he gained several awards within the meat trade and a wealth of experience.
The opportunity came to purchase Orsman`s, which Phil did in September 2000; he was then joined by Ron Ford, Jeff Hickman, Roy Whitehouse and Declan Packer who between them have a wealth of experience which is demonstrated in the care and attention given to every customer.
Today, Orsman`s continues to pride itself on upholding the values and ethos upon which the company was founded. With our commitment and passion, we are able to personally ensure that our customers are receiving the highest quality traditionally reared, properly matured meats, superior in quality and flavour.
